Blushing

  • It has ruined my life

  • I cannot progress in my career

  • I am scared of going to the supermarket in case I see someone I know

  • I dare not socialise

  • I can feel it coming on and think "Oh no, not now".

All these statements have been said to me in my sessions whilst treating people who suffer from excessive blushing. The one thing that all these statements have in common is that they are fears about something that is going to happen. And when you think about a fear in the future, this causes anxiety, which makes you think about trying to stop blushing, and the more you try and stop thinking, the more you think about it until  the inevitable happens, you blush and it starts all over again.

This is why avoidance techniques do not work. To use an avoidance technique, (e.g. deep breathing, relaxation etc) you must think about the thing you are trying to avoid, and when you think about trying to avoid blushing it all starts over again.

Over the past years, I have researched blushing; the causes and and available  treaments.

Working with numerous clients I now have a carefully worked out programme to treat people with this condition and help them regain their confidence and  regain control of their life.

This condition can be overcome in a surprisingly short period of time.
