Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
The cost per 90 minute session is £50 . An initial 1 hour appointment is available free of charge to allow an initial assessment. It is important that clients feel comfortable with the therapy and this gives an opportunity to experience working with me before making a decision.
There are reduced rates on mid week appointments for single parents and those on low income, on GP referral.
IHow long is a session?
A session is a face to face consultation. There may well be Email or phone contact before this, but a therapy session is always a face to face meeting. They are timed to last about one hour to one hour and a half. Phobia treatment sessions can take longer. The important factor is not the clock, but what is happening. It may well be that an important issue is being dealt with. In this case the session will be extended to allow a satisfactory outcome
to take
place.
What happens in a consultation?
This depends on where we are at in the therapy. At the start of therapy, time will be taken to clarify the presenting problem and the goals, what is it that you want to happen, and what prevents you. From this point the therapy will depend on the information received and the individual being treated. NLP therapy recognises that we are all unique, with our unique histories and our unique view of the world. The therapy used will therefore depend on the individual.
However at least once in every session a change process will be used that will help to bring about a change and movement towards the desired goals. All sessions are conducted in a relaxed informal style. What is a change process? A change process or intervention is way dealing with the source
of the problem. It may be an exercise shifting your perceptions or beliefs
or a strategy for relieving a troublesome experience or memory. It may be a deep intervention that clears a traumatic experience or childhood memory. There are a number of these strategies, to deal with many different
experiences and problems. The one that is use will depend on you and the situation being dealt with.
How many consultations will I need? This is always a difficult question to answer. Some problems are dealt with in one session. The aim of brief therapy is to identify the goal, to find out what it is that you want and to use any technique that is available to get you there, as quickly as possible. It does not spend extended periods of time on detailed
and painful analysis. Guidance on the number
of consultations
required is given under the individual web pages and more information can be obtained by contacting us.
